Composing for Kings: My Exciting Commission from Choir & Organ Magazine

I am absolutely thrilled to announce that I have been selected for the Choir & Organ's composition commission! It is an incredible honor to be chosen as one of the six New Music composers to feature in Choir & Organ magazine during 2023, in partnership with the Choir of King’s College London.

Choir & Organ’s New Music series has been running since 2006, with the aim of promoting young composers under the age of 34 by commissioning them to write a short piece either for choir (accompanied or unaccompanied) or for organ. I am humbled to be included in this prestigious series and am excited to contribute to the growth of new repertoire.

As part of the commission, I will have the opportunity to be introduced with a feature interview in the magazine. The score of my piece will also be made freely available on the Choir & Organ website for 6 months, encouraging organists to explore new music. After 6 months, all rights will revert to me.

The benefits of this commission are truly outstanding. I will have a feature interview in the magazine, my piece will receive a UK premiere given by the Organ Scholar of King’s College London. Additionally, a video recording of my work will be available online, and I will be mentored ahead of composition from KCL’s director of music Dr Joseph Fort. PRS for Music will also provide sponsorship in 2023 in the form of a seminar and workshop for the New Music composers.

It is an incredible opportunity to be able to work with such renowned institutions and individuals. I am excited to begin working on my organ piece for an issue in later 2023. I am extremely grateful for this opportunity, and I cannot wait to share my piece with the world.
